Surprisingly Engaging Book

The Final Summit by Andy Andrews combines a bit of history, a bit of self-help, and a powerful story to keep me engaged and turning the pages. When I first opened the book I was ready for a little light reading. I certainly was surprised by the storyline. It was interesting and kept me paying attention.

The beginning of the book seemed a bit syrupy. It seemed to be about a powerful man who cared about people. He was older and had suffered loss. Being at a point in his life full of reflection I wondered if the story would go badly.

It quickly turned in to a book with angels, exciting dialogue, and a problem that definitely needed to be solved. The historical characters may not have been directly quoted, but they certainly could have acted and spoken the way they did in the book.

It was a pleasure to read about the mixture of characters. Although the problem to solve was the main plot to the story, the way the historical characters interacted was an amusing side line to the story. I definitely was entertained and inspired by this book. I felt energized to get back to my life and the people in it.

I definitely recommend reading this book. It is a great pick me up if you are feeling down or discouraged. For the faithful it can lead to thought processes that will come back to you in the days to come. The charm is that you do not even realize this will happen while reading the book.
